Mizzou Shotgun Team hosted their annual Tiger Open Shoot for the Midwestern Circuit of collegiate shooting. This event was held October 29th & 30th at the Prairie Grove Shooting Sports in Columbia, MO. This competition brought together approximately 50 shooters from University of Missouri, Missouri S&T Rolla, Missouri State University, Kansas State University and University of Wyoming. This was a 300 target shoot; 50 American Skeet targets, 50 International Skeet targets, 50 American Trap targets, 50 Modified International Trap (MIT) targets and 100 Sporting Clays targets.
While the mornings were chilly, the weekend was filled with beautiful autumn days. Ryan Mason swept this competition by breaking 269 targets out of 300 and earning High Over-All Male. He placed 1st in Sporting Clays (85/100), 1st in American Skeet (49/50), 1st in International Skeet (41/50) and shot a perfect score leading to 1st place MIT (50/50). He also placed 4th in American Trap. His hours of hard work and practice lead to his 21 target lead. Finally, he and fellow teammate, Ian Love, won the flurry. We would also like to congratulate Ian Love and Daniel Perotti who tied for Runner Up High Over-all Male by breaking a respectable 248 targets our of 300.
Interview with Steve Physioc, Sports Broadcaster
December 7, 2010 by CollegiateCamo · Leave a Comment
Steve Physioc broadcasted Major League Baseball for 25 years, NBA, and now does Pac-10 and Big 12 football and basketball for Fox Sports Net. He was gracious enough to grant an interview with CollegiateCamo to share his experience and expertise in sports broadcasting!
CollegiateCamo: How did you become a sports broadcaster?
Steve Physioc: I became a broadcaster while at Kansas State University. I majored in Radio-TV and fell in love with play-by-play the first game I did between Luckey HS and Wakefield. I walked out of the booth saying this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I graduated in 1977, spent two years in radio in Hastings Nebraska, four at WIBW in Topeka, four at WLWT in Cincinnati, 10 in SF bay area and the last 15 in SoCal.
CollegiateCamo: How do you stay objective when your favorite team is on the field or court?
Steve Physioc: That’s called professionalism. I currently do Big 12 and Pac-10 football and basketball and I have friends on every coaching staff. I just want to see a wonderfully played game, exciting to the end and hope my words make the pictures more attractive to the viewers. I have done team jobs before; Angels, Reds, Giants in MLB and Warriors and Grizzlies in the NBA and obviously you want the team you are broadcasting to do well, but you have a responsibility to your audience to be honest.
CollegiateCamo: What is the most outrageous moment you can remember from a game upon which you commentated?
Steve Physioc: I worked in Cincinnati as a sportscaster and pxp broadcaster for the Reds. I had Reds reliever John Franco on my sportscast to talk about the all-star game he appeared in. He never got in the game, so I showed highlights of him chewing gum, leaning against the dugout rail and talking with teammates. We all had a laugh over that but Franco said he would have his payback. The next day I was doing a live shot at Riverfront Stadium with the other all-star (who did play), Dave Parker, and was set up. Parker made sure I wasnt watching and while we were on the air live Franco came around and pied me with shaving cream in the face. I had to do the rest of the show with pie on my face! Good fun and payback is sweet.
CollegiateCamo: How does your family fit into the traveling lifestyle of a professional sports broadcaster?
Steve Physioc: I have been married to the most wonderful woman the last 25 years. Stacey was raised in the business (her father was a weather-man and Saturday morning clown in St. Louis) and she spent several years in our industry. Stacey understands the demands of the business and is very independent. Our kids are grown now so she has an open invitation to join me on the road for any game, but a good woman is mighty important when you’re away from family so much. We have two grown children, who when they were young, joined me on the road often and when I was home, I was home. I played and hung out with family. I’m a very lucky guy to have three people who support and love me.
CollegiateCamo: What is your favorite college team? Who do we need to keep our eye on this year?
Steve Physioc: I enjoy both conferences I have covered this year. Broadcasting Big 12 games has been a blast because I grew up in that Conference when I attended K-State, then later broadcast Wildcat games on WIBW. I have done Pac-10 sports for more than 20 years, so I have many friends on every team. Watch out for Washington and Arizona in the Pac-10 this year. Very good and well-coached. I like Kansas, Missouri and Kansas State in the Big 12. All well-coached with talent.

Kansas State Ducks Unlimited Annual Banquet is a Huge Success!
April 26, 2010 by CollegiateCamo · Leave a Comment
We had a quackin’ good time at the American Legion Hall in Manhattan, Kan. last Friday for the Kansas State University Ducks Unlimited chapter. The DU chapter is making a comeback with this huge success. This is the first Kansas State University Ducks Unlimited Annual Banquet since 2007, with an impressive attendance of 195 fellow duck and goose hunters.
CollegiateCamo had a huge presence at this monumental Ducks Unlimited event. Co-founder Marty Morris is proud to be the 2010 chairman. Showcasing his waterfowl knowledge and blowing his duck call on stage was CollegiateCamo Pro-Staffer Jody Niccum, otherwise known as the 2007 World Champion Duck Caller. CollegiateCamo Pro-Staffers Dave West and Bret Burgmeier were also in attendance.
CollegiateCamo wishes to send a special thanks to Pat Mellard and his family, Michelle Palmer, Cheyenne George, Laura Rice, John Ritchey and all other Ducks Unlimited committee members at the Kansas State University chapter.
One hot item auctioned at the DU event was an autographed camouflage guitar, signed by many big red dirt country bands like Stoney Larue, Eli Young Band, Kevin Fowler, Aaron Watson, Rich O’Toole and the Blaine Younger Band.
The K-State Wildcats chapter of Ducks Unlimited is making a huge comeback, and plans to rival any and every other DU campus chapter in the Midwest.
Are you a K-State fan? Or perhaps your college of choice is one of the other Midwestern schools with a booming Ducks Unlimited branch. Either way, you should show your collegiate pride and purchase a CollegiateCamo camouflage college decal today!

Iowa Deer Classic 2010 Recap!
March 9, 2010 by CollegiateCamo · Leave a Comment
CollegiateCamo just returned from a fantastic weekend in Des Moines, Iowa where we attended the Iowa Deer Classic show. Our booth was well-attended by all collegiate outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen, and it was a real pleasure to meet all of you!
It was a struggle but we managed to calm the rivalry at our booth between the Iowa Hawkeyes fans and Iowa State Cyclones fans. We were very careful not to let any of the merchandise intermingle. Who knows – it could have started a fire, or something worse!
And-we quickly learned not to assume what loyalty our customers have – the scowls and verbal beating that we took if we assumed wrong was stifling! So we learned to ask the question “What is your favorite school?” on a regular basis, haha!
We heard comments like, “You can’t tell me there’s any other school in Iowa other than the Iowa,” or perhaps, “We don’t recognize that school over there with the big yellow bird!”
It was especially fun to see how fired up Iowa State University (IA State) fans were about their big win Saturday night over #5-ranked Kansas State Wildcats.
So who won out in the ultimate battle to show their team pride along with a healthy dose of camouflage? It was a tie! The sales were about even for both schools.
The Northern IA fans were thrilled to see that we had their merchandise. They say it has been extremely hard to find Northern Iowa Panthers stuff! (Not anymore thanks to CollegiateCamo.) And their panther looks so good on our caps and decals. Congrats to NIA for clinching their title game – Missouri Valley Tournament Championship over Wichita State!
Then of course we had the fan of the Bradley University Braves that scoffed at the public institutions, but was both shocked and excited to visit our website to find buy the Bradley University camo decals and apparel.Surprisingly, the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers came in as the 4th biggest seller at the Iowa Deer Classic! Those guys really love their “Big Red.” Camo combined with the big “N” – just gotta have it!
People really came out of the woodworks for the Iowa Deer Classic show. We sold Mizzou Tigers stuff, Pittsburg State Gorilla stuff, Arkansas Razorbacks, Kansas State Wildcats and Kansas Jayhawks stuff too. One of our customers, the parents of a who son plays on the Minnesota Mankato baseball team, was excited to send some of our cool Mankato stuff his way! Hope he loves it – send him our well wishes for this baseball season! (Browse CollegiateCamo Schools to find your favorite college sports team in camo.)
One of the best kept secrets about the Iowa Deer Classic shows is one of the most amazing drives just south out of Des Moines headed toward Kansas City (witnessed it many times). The herds of deer (yes, herds) on both sides of I-35 are unbelievable! It’s truly like driving in a national park. And the beauty goes on for miles. We highly recommend it.
Thanks again, Iowans, for giving us such a great experience from the Iowa Deer Classic show to the local restaurants, the local people and the beautiful drive home with a glimpse of the wilderness that keeps us in business. It was a great experience.
